Aikido, “The Way of Harmony” is a martial art developed in the early 1900’s by Morihei Ueshiba, known as “O Sensei” (Great Teacher). O Sensei combined traditional weapons and various grappling arts to form Aikido.
Upon closer examination, practitioners will find from Aikido what they are looking for, whether it is applicable self-defense technique, spiritual development, physical health, or peace of mind. O Sensei emphasized the moral and spiritual aspects of this art, placing great weight on the development of harmony and peace. “The Way of Harmony of the Spirit” is one way that “Aikido” may be translated into English. Although the idea of a martial discipline striving for peace and harmony may seem paradoxical, it is the most basic tenet of the art.
Traditional training is stressed in all classes, but is combined with practical application. Come and learn true “Budo”.
